An Athlon64 3200+ system was the first and only time I've ever overclocked anything, which consisted of only changing a couple of BIOS settings, so please forgive the noobiness of this post.

I've read graysky's tutorial, but I'm having trouble getting to 3.2 on the system in my sig. I'm running 1501 BIOS on the P5Q Pro, and I started out trying 400x8 with a 1.4 vCore and 1.4v NB.

It boots, but after launching prime95 torture test, core 4 goes out immediately and core 3 follows within 10 seconds or so. Seconds after saving the screenshots below I got a BSOD. I have ADD times a thousand, so I know I screwed something up. The tutorial has a little bit different BIOS than mine, and I couldn't figure out what the equivalent settings are by search engine.

I'm a little confused about certain BIOS settings, so if you see anything wrong in the screenshots please let me know.

I tried 333x9 with exactly the same settings as the screenshots except for turning the vCore to 1.3 and NB voltage to auto, but I got the same prime95 error as above. I bumped the vCore to 1.35 and there have been no problems yet.

I've got to get some sleep, I'll post the 1.35vCore stress test results this afternoon.

No idea really but no chip is gauranteed to run at anything other than it's stock speed, seeing as you are approaching 1ghz extra you should perhaps leave it at that.

Of course, i think the vcore limit is 1.5 for 65nm chips so perhaps you could try slowly increasing the vcore a bit if temps stay within reason.

Turn Load-Line calibration to enabled to prevent vdroop also. As necrophile mentioned, you may need more vcore to stabilize things at 400fsb for the q6600.

Set AI transaction booster to manual, then set performance level to 10. Thats your problem. put ram timings in manually aswell.

Well I can't even get a stable OC at 3Ghz. I got an error on the 4th core after an hour. The only timings that I could find were the first four, and those are already put in manually. I'll put it to 1.4vCore and change the LLC and AI booster and give that a try. Should I really need 1.4 just to get it to 3GHz?

more voltage for the q6600, to get 3.6 mine required 1.4625V. Load Line Calibration vdroop fix, i'd enable that.

I'm just trying to get 3.0 stable first. I've got vCore and NB both at 1.4v now, and fixed LLC and AI booster. I put the DRAM frequency to 1:1 667MHz just for now.

*edit* Failed again! Now I put the ram performance level down from 10 to 9 like in MittWaffen's thread. On that thread they also suggested to change the CPU PLL, FSB-term, and FSB-NB. What should I change those to on my system?

Leave the DRAM Frequency alone, I've never really set it, the 400FSB tends to override it anyways. Also take your ram out of the equation, loosen the timings to 5-5-5-18 and run the max voltage its rated at.

Have NB Voltage to 1.4, no more than that, and set CPU voltage to 1.45, don't assume that just because you aren't clocking as high as mine that you may not need as much voltage as mine.

Make sure your CPU cooler is setup properly, don't enclose it in case just yet, run with the side panel off. Make sure its seated. My setup with closed case hits temps of 62C max with a 22C ambient. With a 26C ambient, it's hit as high as 67C on all 4 cores. S

Sandbox, you get everything sorted out?

I run 3.45 @ 1.4v every chip is different but i think you should bump the voltage up..then see if its stable. Then bump it down slowly if it is. By the way, your temps seem low enough that the voltage shouldn't be an issue. With the two q6600s that i have i find 1.4v range is around all it needs for stability for modest over clocking.
