I just started to overclock my cpu but I am having problems when I try to raise my vcore. When I raise it, I am not able to get past the bios thing, it says overlcocking failed. I don't think its my temp becouse it never when over about 33c. I have a asus p4c800 e deluxe motherboard and a intel p4 northwood 3.0ghz. Please tell me whats wrong
 
like what? video card ati x800 pro 1536mb ddr 400 ram around 400w powersupply. sorry I am a newb :( my vcore is 1.6 my fsb is 230 multiplier x15
 
my best bet is its your psu, or your memory limiting you as long as its a northwood, 1.6v prescott is preposterous unless your on good water cooling and a nice psu

worst case scenario is your 3 ghz cpu dont overclock for shit

<edit> noting the memory quantity im betting its the memory, whats that memory rated at? are the brands/modles mixed? also... having THREE modules means NO dual channel, fix that no dual channel makes preformance suffer a lot
 
I do have two diffrent brands for ram i have 512mb from corsair and 1gb from crucial, there both ddr 400, and i got 2 sticks from both companys. In Cpuz my vcore does jump around a bit, could that couse my problem of not being able to get past 1.6v?
 
im betting psu then, dude you need two modules of same density to get dual channel your pentium runs at 4x the bus, the memory at 2x dual channel makes up for it, you do not have dual channel
 
I have the same mobo and it would not let me overclock at all, until I loosened up the ram timings. Change the latency settings to something higher and try again. :)

 
I tried making the lateency setting highier that didn't work. For my I got it in this order 256 from corsair 512 for crucial 256 from corsair and then another 512 from crucial, that wont give me dual channel?
