Overclocking problems with my a64 3200+

hey ok here is the deal. Im using corecenter that came with my msi board to overclock my 3200+(754) . It will overclock to almost 300 mhz and then crash. The temps are @33 when it does which is way kool for an a64 as it is. My ram is also pc4000 so i know its not that. so im thinking its either the volatge of something or the program. here are my specs. any feedback is appreciated.

amd athlon64 3200+ socket 754
msi k8t neo-fsr
geil pc400 (1bg)
ati x800xt
samsung 160gb sata
soyo raptor 400wat psu
aerocool spiral galaxies case
 
did you lower the hypertransport multiplier? and did you raise cpu voltage at all? not many motherboards can reach 300mhz so you may be at the limit of your motherboard.

EDIT: when you say you overclocked 300mhz do you mean the fsb is 300 or you overclocked your processor 300mhz?
 
i didnt lower the multiplier i just increased the ht
stock 200*11=2200
my current oc is only at 219*11=2400
i can almost get it to 2500 but it crashes
 
i raised the proc up 300mhz, the fsb is stable at 219 but once it gets to like 225 or somethiung it crashes
 
no cause im not really familiar with overlclocking but i know it raises in increments of .025
its currently at 1.555 using 1.46
 
Try: lower HyperTransport multi to 3x bzw 4x, try 166 mhz for your RAM (i know 4000 simply try it), lower the Cycle to 2.5 - 3, increase the voltage of your cpu to 1.6 - 1.65, watch temps, good luck.

My A64 3000 with the same board hits 240 x 10, but I got to dramatically lower the Settings of my HyperX Memory to make it stable
 
thnx to both of the last 2 people to reply, ill give ure guide a look, but phoptic can u say that again but with out abbreviation and be a little more clear. Im just new to overclocking. by the wya where should i be doing all the stuff u were saying. in the bios? and can anyone tell mew hay its crashing tho after a 300mhz increase on the proc. should i use the bios instead of corecenter? and how does the ram fit into the whole overlcoking thing?
 
comeon guys help me out here. also drop some cooling solutions i should use as well as what kind of hsf's work best. im prepared to do water but if i can achieve high enuff on air i wont

naw man i know it was not typical cause even i had maxed out corecenter before, this time it just crashed a little too hard

Could you elaborate on that a bit? I'm having some really wierd goings-on with windows (intermittent hanging at the windows logo screen even at stock speed and volts) that I can't figure out.
I don't personally like Core Center all that well. Haven't had much luck with it, and I did just fine (I thought) tweaking everything myself. Of course, tsuehpsyde's guide and a lot of forum research didn't hurt either.
