Hi all:
I have a 2.53GHz 533MHz FSB P4 running on a Gigabyte 8PE667 Motherboard (i845pe chipset). I have 2x Corsair PC3200LL 512MB RAM.
The problem is, I can't get the FSB to go over 155 (2.92GHz) no matter what I do. If I raise it any higher, Windows will freeze in the middle of the boot. It goes from being fine @ 155, 100% no problems, ~38C idle to not even booting at 158.
Even more annoying is the fact that I have to have the DRAM at 2.0 multiple, so it's only running at 308MHz, because if I run it at 2.5 (~385MHz) the computer will just keep resetting after the LILO boot loader comes up and I pick Windows.. I can't even get the splash screen. The RAM, being DDR400, should be able to run 2.5x at 160FSB (400MHz), so I don't see why it's doing this.
Any ideas? Just the motherboard? I guess 2.92GHz is okay (eventhough some have gotten 3.2+), but I'd like the memory to run faster than 308MHz
