Overclocking Problems A64/Abit/ATi

Since I didn't get an answer last time, I figured I'll try again. I have an A64 3000+, Abit AV8 and ATi 9800 Pro. When I overclock too far, I guess, I'll BSOD with and ati2dvag error. I decided to download the CCC version of the driver and see if it would cure the problem. Now instead of a BSOD it just knocks my video card driver out. I am here in Windows writing this without video card drivers. What exactly would cause this to happen? Does it do this because my AGP lock isn't working right? This board also will not support 3XHTT in the BIOS at all, even at stock everything. I have included some pictures, a photo worth a thousand words.

Hmm, I guess your system would have crapped out ages ago if your AGP lock was not functioning. Looking at your screenshots - 300Mhz FSB (HTT) is pretty damn high, I'd settle for that, or raise the multiplier & back off?
 
Did you overclock the video card at all? Or just the processor? I used to get BSOD's on my ATI 9800 PRO...found out it was due to a busted capacitor on the board...not busted really...just one side of the cap didnt make contact with metal....saudered it and it stopped doing it...Have you checked the board for any physical problems? Does this only occur when you have your pc overclocked?
 
I found a Japanese or Chinese updated BIOS for the motherboard over at the Abit forums. The board seems much more stable now. I backed off the 300Mhz FSB, it really didn't show that much improvement. I am currently at 277Mhz FSB with 2XHTT(3X is goofed somehow) and a muliplier of 9. All seems well, I ran Prime 95 for 12 hrs no problems.

The problem was when I would overclock too far I would loose my video card driver. So far so good now. I wonder if the AGP lock was only partially working, seems like it would either work or not.

Yes I have my video card overclocked, it has an Arctic Silencer on it and I flashed the BIOS to 412/378(been this way since Doom 3 came out). When I would run my computer at a "stable" overclock I never had any problems,

I haven't visually checked either PCB, I can do that now.
