overclocking problem with quake3/sacred

i posted this in game forum, but no replies and its a very specific problem.

quake3 and sacred dont like me being overclocked to high speeds, even though i maintain 42c max under load. and games such as ut2k4 and farcry run 100% stable with no quirks.

quake3 will freeze every 2 minutes when im playing online, and then go back to normal. it only does it when im overclocked to a certain speed(barton@13x200). when i underclock(12.5x200), the problem goes away.

also, the game sacred(top down rpg game) has a problem with me being overclocked as well. characters and items will disappear after a couple minutes, and the only way to fix it is to go down to 11x200. its lame because these 2 games have these quirks with overclocking yet its completely stable with games that are much more intensive. btw i have an nf7-s and radeon9700pro if it matters.

but does anyone know exactly what would cause this? what part of the OC would these games NOT like? its a mobile barton so im changing the multiplier only, my timings are the same throughout.

Just a quick question for you, it seems like you are just not 100% stable, have you tried running prime for a long duration? Are you prime stable?

i knew it! i was hoping to avoid this confrontation with prime, but its inevitable. ok ill run it and see what happens. but i just think its lame that ut2k4 i can run for 24hours with no problem yet these weaker games give me a hard time.

well, prime has been running for 15+ hours now. i dont think that stability is the problem. this seems software specific. and yet again an unsolvable problem

just increased the voltage by .5 and now the problem goes away. although its funny that sacred a top down rpg can make my computer seem unstable in 1 minute. yet prime for hours on end can't.
