Overclocking performance?

I'm looking to buy a dual core opteron, probably a 170. I'm also thinking about trying overclocking, but I have a question. Those of you that have overclocked this or similar chips, does it bring a significant real world performance increase? I know test numbers will be higher but will it open apps and encode video or audio significatly faster? Will it multitask better? I realize that overclocking results are gifts and not guarenteed, so I'm asking this assuming a reasonable overclock for this chip, maybe 2.4-2.6ghz (is that reasonable)?

Yes its reasonable, and yes you really do notice it. Thats one of many reasons its so fun.

Ok, well that's good cause I don't want to purchase an expensive DFI board and not notice the improvements from overclocking.
