I have been having trouble finding much info on the process for overclocking non-K series cpus on an x79 motherboard.
Can anyone share their experiences or point me to some articles with this info?

I am wanting to overclock a 3820 and XEON E5 Series quad, hex, and octo core cpus.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Xeons cannot be overclocked using the clock straps. The only non-K 2011 CPU that can be overclocked with the clock straps is the 3820.

Really that is too bad the 1366 xeons were beastly overclockers. I can even clock my 1155 xeons a bit.

Although I have never heard of "clock strap" so I am no closer to overclocking my 3820.

Any help in that regard?
