overclocking my mem question!?!?

I have 2 X 1GB Crucial Ballistix 6400 Ram and have it running at 444Mhz 4-4-4-12, I was wondering if running it at the same 444Mhz but changing the timings to 5-5-5-15 would make it any better/quicker??? Thanks for any help!

The lower the latency, the better. So you should keep your timings the way they are now.

By upping the timings you are making it slower. So no, it would not be better.

Oh, I forgot to add I upped the ram to 1067 instead of 888, what then?

If it's stable with CAS 4 timings at 1067 then keep it. The point is, the lower the number the better.

4 is better than 5 always.

its not stable at 4-4-4-12 at 1066.. because i own this memory.. its 5-5-5-15 @ 1066 and your talking about nano seconds slower here people.. you wouldnt even notice it and at 1066 it would be = to or faster on the majority of things compared to 4-4-4-12 @ 800mhz.. since the standard for all 1066 is 5-5-5-15.. unless your buying rediculously fast memory that is 4-5-5-15 1066..

your not going to notice a difference at all between them.. and even on my system i score better on 3dmark06 with it at 1066 5-5-5-15 then i do with it at 800 4-4-4-12.. mind you its only about a 100 point difference..

888MHz, you want to increase this, the clock rate, for more performance.

4-4-4-12, these are delay values, so you want smaller delays for more performance.

Testing RAM stability is a pain ...

as crucial and corsair techs have told me before, a higher frequency is always much better than lower timings. 1066 with timings like 8-8-8-30 will still probably be better performance (not benchmark) wise, I think.

Thanks for your input, right now the 6400 ram is set to 5-5-5-15-30 1067Mhz and is stable.
