well not really hell, but somewhere away from stock :) I currently have it @360/278 with the stock HSF. I want to buy a VGA cooler or just buy a Socket A HSF and mount it. I don't want to spend more than $20 on this project. I already have extra AS5. Here are some options i've been looking at.

Cooler Master Cool Viva VGA Cooler

Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer Revision 3

Thermaltake "Volcano 7+

Those were just a few from the top of my head. Give me your ideas!

I hate it when you post a thread, hoping that someone will look at it and no one posts anything in it.....Its reallly annoying.......It happens to me

ScHpAnKy, am i reading your sig right...p4-m 1.8 @ 4.2?? one question...how?

honestly, i doubt going with a volcano type cooler for your GPU will get you anything more impressive than a high quality VGA cooler...now if you really wanna overclock it to hell, watercool it...

I could overclock my old 9500pro really far.... until I tried to play a DX9 game. Then artifacts like crazy. Have you tried any games like Doom3, HL2, or Farcry to see if it's ok at those speeds? or even 3dmark2003...

Just curious.

i have run doom 3 and farcry with it i think the core and clock i set it at is the same as what the has specified... he wanted me to use it while his p4 mobo was in rma.. but i tried it and personally everything but farcry works equiv if not faster on my 5950... im thinking its because of memory clock limiting things on his radeon

overclocking is one thing but have you tried modding it to a 9700??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Doom3 is so,but I have not seen that case while playing farcry.

How do you plan on just mounting a Socket A heatsink on there?

You better not be epoxying it to the chip..

You do realize that you were running it at 9500NP speeds (275 core vs 430)? That's almost half of what it's capable of

i installed rivtuner and ased you what the limit of the card was.. i am positive it was ~400 and im absolutly positive i had memroy maxed out.. you said 1 more mhtz and it artifacts and how it was soo wierd that it will go up to that and it was a round number

No way you did that, otherwise it would have blown it away.

I got my 9500 pro up to 430/315 with a modded bios and an arctic cooler. To get it to play all games really well I had to turn it down to 425/310. So it is do able

but i did.. was on the 2800 at 333 mhtz.. maybe it was cpu limited at that time or the difference wasnt immediatly noticable

arent radeon 9500's softmodable to 9700np? a few months ago there was a guy that had screenshots of a 3dmark score of 20k+ with a softmodded 9500 and overclocked to high hell.

My 9500 Pro is running at 360/300 with a VGA Silencer (Rev 1) and AS5.
