Ok guys, I was messing around with over clocking and reading a guide on it. My system specs are in my sig, but here is what I did.

My FSB was at 199, Multiplier was at 11x, My timing was 2.0-2-2-11, 1:1.... That's what I did "trying" to overclock.

Now when I start my computer it just doesn't initiliaze the monitor, and then after like 20 seconds starts beeping. My CDrom flashes, and it looks like it's trying to post... but it doesnt. The hard drive activity light flashes a couple of times then goes solid red. I don't know what it is. I tried reseting the bios like at least 20 times with the jumper, and tried letting the battery sit out for an hour twice. I've restarted it like 100x. I didn't smell anything burn, or no smoke or anything like that. And my processor had been running relatively cool at like 47c.

Did my cpu burn out, I just took it out and cleaned it up... I don't think it burnt out... although I've never seen a burnt out one. Is the glue around the core supposed to be black, i mean its just whatever adhesive that holds the core to the pcb.... i don't know if its supposed to be black i forgot what it looked like. I can take pics if neccesarry guys. I hate sounding so newbish but I need help. Thanks.

EDIT: After comparing it took pictures of a retail one online, I don't think its burnt out either.

RAM is corsair XMS pc3500... nice stuff with nice heatsinks... i didn't even bump it up that high... and I didnt touch the video card....? I just realized the CPU is AQXEA stepping too, which is supposedly good for overclocking... specially on a Volcano 11+ (which is what I had).... wtf happened... lol

well, maybe the ram was defective and the increase in fsb caused it to finally give out. it doesnt hurt to try new ram. thats all i can think of besides a motherboard failure.

if it was a motherboard failure does that mean the motherboard like fried? and if i try this ram in another computer, can it mess it up too?

the only thing i could think of the ram doing is mesing up your bios settings in another computer, thats about it. and yes, if the motherboard is dead, then its dead.

anyway to tell if the motherboards gone... like there is no burnt out resistors, no popped capacitors... nothing.... no burnt out marks

either use a magnifying glass hehe, or try new parts in the motherboard. which isnt really safe because it could possibly kill those parts. what i would do first is borrow a friends comp with a similar setup, switch out all of your parts into his one at a time (except the motherboard). if all the parts work, then its most likely the motherboard. the only way i could think of to tell if its dead is to look for leaning/bulging/popped capacitors, black marks, melt marks, anything out of the ordinary.

My mobo did the same shit for the longest time and I can't tell you how fucking frustrated i got. It has something to do with the ram. If you are running dual channel bump down to one stick, and if that doesn't work, try some different ram. My setup works fine now with the ram I have but it would NOT fucking post after i fuxed around with it until i booted with one stick.

alright, soon as i get the thing peiced back together im gonna try the ram in a diff slot, then another type of ram

have you cleared the cmos by removing the battery on the motherboard? i oced my computer and samething happened but wouldnt post so i just took the battery out and poped it back in and it worked.

edit, nevermind, would have helped if i reread your post before i posted. sorry.

Turns out my RAM fried, will Corsair let me RMA it . It's Corsair XMS and there is supposedly a lifetime warranty.
