hey I recently contacted XFX asking if their warranty supports overclocking. Here's what they said.

I didn't know there was any other way. I guess he means things like MSI afterburner and rivia tuner or ati catalyst are safe to use. But what wouldn't be covered then?
 
That they do.

It's the only reason I don't flash my BIOS, yet. (Card isn't even a year old.) I just use Afterburner, and managed the OC in my sig. Why risk a warranty killing BIOS flash when AB works just fine. Sure, you run 1 less program but with a system like this, who freaking cares? Not like I am lacking in power.

I'll keep my warranty thanks, and the sweet OC I currently have with software.

Yes, it's pretty easy, as long as you can access the chip. If I plugged your card in to my machine now, I could tell you in a few moments if you had a custom Bios (assuming I knew what the original one was, which they would).

Whether they will actually check this is a differnt story. I dont know what their process is wehn they receive an RMA'd card.

Could they tell even if you flashed it back to the default BIOS before shipping? I'm happy using AB, just curious though.

XFX support scares me though, I've heard of a lot of people getting denied for frivolous reasons, so I'm trying to be really careful.

Well, yes...but of course you would flash it back before sending it to them. I know they can tell the number of times it has been flashed...but is there a way to know what it was flashed with?
