Ok, so I overclocked my q6600 to 3.6ghz @ 1.55v and ran prime95 100% load for 24 hours using small fft's no problem. My memory is stock at 800mhz at 2.2v. I'm using 400x9 to get my overclock.

Can someone now tell me when I run blend on prime95 why I would get an error on one of the cores after 15 mins (mem voltage was at 2.225v this time since "a little extra memory voltate never hurt anyone") or even on three of the cores after about 5 mins when I put the memory voltage one more higher at 2.25v?

So I restart and just for kicks put my cpu voltage up one to 1.556v and this time I turned off antivirus before I did the blend test again and I ran it for 20 minutes until I stopped it to shed some light on the situation.

Could it have been the antivirus the first two times? Why would it/how could it be the cpu voltage after it was stable for 24 hours with small fft's at 1.55v? How could it be the memory when it isn't even overclocked? Its at stock voltage and stock speed and timings. I'm stumped.

Could any one maybe give me some info or maybe some suggestions on how to rule out the problem?

Please rewrite it with newlines and paragraphs.
Its so hard to read and then re-read to make sure all the points are covered.

I cant answer why when not running the AV, it seems to improve, other than you are pushing the CPU too far and you will get failures.
I can shed some light on the rest.

Not all cores are created equal as you may have noticed different temps on the different cores.
One core might fail to work when clocked because it needs more voltage.
Another core might be just near its maximum temperature but still works ok.
Boosting the voltage makes the first core work ok now but the second core is overheating so fails.
You must expect this form of behaviour once you have reached the limit.

Different CPU tests do different things and as such one test can make a cpu fail whereas another doesnt.
Always run many tests to make sure it is stable.
If one test fails, its most likely because it isnt 100% stable.

The memory is unlikely to need extra voltage and is probably a red herring.
