overclocking help ... what am i doing wrong.

first the specs.

athlon xp 2600+ (333fsb) tbred b core
abit at7 max2 /w latest bios and via drivers.
512 mb corsair xms 3200

ati radeon 9700 pro overclocked 380/375 - has been for over 2 years completly stable
sb live x gamer

adaptec aha 160 scsi card
seagate 15k rpm cheatah 36gb
pioneer 12x scsi dvd

the problems that i am getting is that i cannot really overclock at all for any length of time. ill have the system overclocked at 14 x 170 and it runs fine for a day or 2 then games and stuff start locking up. due to the chipset and peripherals and a lack of an agp/pci lock i know i cant go high on the bus but i cant even get the memory to clock at 200mhz. windows has yet to boot even when the system is set to 12 x 200 however 3dmark and prime are not stable at that speed. ddr voltage is normally set at 1.90-2.0 and ddr voltage is set to 2.95 i have tried various timings on the memory but none seem to make much differnce i would also appreciate and explanation as to what timings are appropriate for this memory.
all components cpu video and north bridge are water cooled and temps peak out about 130degs at 2.0 voltage on all my overclocks i have run prime 95 and 3dmark together for over 2 hours with no lockups and errors or artifacts. i know that this isnt the best board for overclocking a athlon xp as a nforce 2 ultra chipset would of been better but this is what i have.
 
restart? do mean reset the bios? i do that after every lockup i have.
 
He means reset the CMOS by changing the jumper. When does the lock up happen?
 
so far the lockups happen only in games. once i get a stable overclock ... well stable according to prime95 and 3dmark i can use the system for maybe a day or 2 and then while im playing a video game it will lock. at that point i go back into the bios reset for failsafe and run the system stock for a day or 2 and start the overclocking process all over again.
 
How long are you running prime95? ppl here suggest running it for at least 6 to 24 hours. If there are no problems then it should be stable. If it still locks up in games then maybe your graphics card? update drivers?

what voltage is your CPU getting?
 
the gfx card is rock solid. ive run the same overclock on it for like 2 years with no issues. also as soon as i put the system back to stock the lockups go away. im running the 4.6 cats. the 4.7's didnt really like the overclock. and like i said the system is stable in 3dmark. its only my games that crash

when running just prime 95 ill let it run overnight otherwise ill run prime 95 AND 3dmark at the same time for 2 hours.
 
the biggest problem is u have a tbred core, it doesn't overclock as well as the barton. The next thing is when you overclock you prolly know this but you have to add some juice to cpu and at times ram. I know this might sound childish but its true.
 
more juice? im running 2 volts on the cpu and 2.85-2.95 on the memory ... i know its not as good an overclocked as the barton but not even 300 mhz?
