Ok, Im a intermediate overclocker, and ive ran into a weird problem here
specs
Asus P5B Deluxe
E6550 @ 3.2
2 x 1gig G.Skill HZ PC6700
Evga 8800gts
My comp was OCed to 3.2ghz..i think it was 465fsb
I had the main settings in my bios set
Ram was set to 5-5-5-15
Ram Voltage was set to auto
CPU voltage was 1.35
Northbrigde and south bridge were bumped up a little, dont remember exactly
The problem started when I would boot up my computer...and then games would run really slow...like COD4 would stay under 20fps...and then i would restart my computer and everything would be fine...80fps
All of a sudden the problem wouldnt go away...no matter what i did...i was lagging like crazy in all games, that I used to beable to play...(made no hardware changes)
First thing i tried was reinstalled the videocard drivers...didnt help..then i downloaded Gpu-z..and this is what i found
see that x1?...
So i set my bios to default settings..and then my computer just BSOD'd and restarted it self..
I thought to first check the ram, I pull out one stick..and it works fine....I put the other stick, and it doesnt post
So I think..well i had bad ram...so i put the 1 gig back in boot up...works fine..I check gpuz and it says @16x
Then i restart to go do a mild overclock while i wait for the stick to get back from RMA
I set the fsb to 450..
cpu Voltage to 1.35
and set the ram from auto SPD to 5-5-5-15 again like i had
lock pci-e frequencie to 100
and pci to 33.33
leave everything else at auto...
I boot up, and im back to the @1x problem again, cod4 lagging like crazy
Anyone know what Bios setting is throttling that?
