Ok, So I read the Sticky on benchmarking utilities and am slightly overwhelmed...
3DMark01, 3DMark03, 3DMark05, 3DMark06, Aquamark 3, PCMark05, PCMark04, SiSoft Sandra 2005, Super Pi, SP2004, Prime95
...seems a little excessive for finding out if my computer is stable and comparing it's speed to everything else out there. It also seems that many of these applications cost money, so some idea of the important ones would be nice so that I'm not wasting too much.
Basically what I am looking for is some sort of package deal that will cover all my bases. I mean, do I need 01/03/05? It is 2006... will the newer version of the tests be sufficient?
I just finished upgrading my video card and monitor. Got one of those 20.1" Dell widescreens from the Canadian '14 days of deals' sale and picked up a Sapphire Radeon X1900GT. I am loving it. Moving from a turbocached GeForce 6200 and 17" Samsung CRT to this was HUGE. However, over the next little while I will be tweaking my windows install, playing with some video settings and perhaps overclocking it just a tad. I'd like something that would show me the performance gains as well as something to ensure that my computer is still stable.
As for the overclocking itself, I will do my own research on that one and hopefully won't have to ask too many questions.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
