Overclocking FX5500

I've just got an FX5500 (I know, I know, but it's been a massive upgrade from my 9200se) anyway figured I'd give overclocking it a go. So far I've taken it from 270/400 to 300/415 with a negligible improvement in framerate in Neverwinter Nights (3dmark 2001 actually dropped 14pts).

Somebody on another forum managed to get 320/450 from it using stock cooling, but would I expect any improvement at those speeds?

Also I noticed in coolbits that I was overclocking the 2d section (which also changed the 3d clocks), but have heard that this is not a good idea. Would that have had an impact?
