Overclocking Failed?

Okay, I have the following.

My temperatures are the same, overclocked and not. A majority of the time I overclock my CPU by %30 (to 3.1GHz) and have 'Turbo' on in my BIOS settings. Sometimes on random bootups it'll tell me 'Overclocking Failed,' and the options are...
Press F1 to continue.
Press F2 to load default setups and continue.

It tends to do this more often when I leave my computer alone for a long period of time, a day or so.

Why does it do this? Thanks.
 
instability,........... your computer can't run stable at those clocks.... and you downclock, or add voltage, or something to your processor to stabilize it.... .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
 
My computer would restart itself randomly at 1.550 vcore. at 1.600 it's perfectly stable.

Try an overnight prime95 torture test.
 
dont put your board in turbo mode
its always screwed up for me whenever i have run on turbo mode for any ASUS motherboard
 
Turbo does it right only if you have the settings to be flawless but default settings will not do anything to turbo but crash.

You need to find the max FSB and the max ram speed with voltage and without voltage being added , read Eclipse's thread.

Also try to monitor the temps too.

The old CPU's use a lot of voltage so the chances are you need to start putiing your voltage up and then the tubo will work.

The tubo increases the fsb and if you need voltage then it will most likey crash. Check the average speeds and voltages for your CPU and stay in that margin.
