overclocking e8400 doesnt change temps?

i got this e8400 idles at 35c loads 48c with stock voltage at 1.19..overclock it to 3.6 voltage at 1.26 idles and loads at the same temp... with my q6600 increase in ghz means increase in temps...so why does the 45nm stay the same temps even with the overclock... i also tried 3.8 on the e8400 at 1.28 and same temps...is this how 45nm works..can the same be true with the quad 45nm
 
Please list what cooler, what temperature monitoring program, and what loading software you're using.
 
sunbeam core freezer...real temp..prime95..it just seems odd that even though i overclock it the temp stays basically the same from my stock temps..at idle and load...i tried using box fan this morning ..it seems at stock idle its about 2-3c difference compare to 3.8 at idle...same 3c difference at load..i guess thats the temp difference for my 45nm 1.19 stock and 1.28 OC
 
Been a little while, so my memory's a bit hazy, but I think mine was the same.

...Until I pushed the voltage a bit higher.

Probably < 5C difference going from 1.225V to 1.3V, and another 15C or more going to 1.4V.
 
I can OC my E6600 under a Big Typhoon from 2.4 to close to 3.0 and see only a 1-2ºC increase. If you have a good cooler then you will not see much temp increase until you up the vcore...
 
i just got use to the q6600 temps..which dumps a lot of heat with the same setup i got..that 65nm goes from 50c stock to 60c on a 3.2 OC
 
well, thats cause you're comparing apples to bananas. 65nm quad vs 45nm dual - big differences

1st. a q6600 when you overclock it, you have twice as much potential for heat. (4 cores vs 2 cores).
2nd. an e8400 is 45nm and requires less voltage, so it doesn't heat up as much when you clock it higher
3rd. you're not pushing the e8400 to the "brink" yet. Now if you had it 4+ Ghz at near 1.4+ volts you'd notice more heat. My e8400 ran perfectly cool at 3.6Ghz. It was around 3.9Ghz that things started getting hot & requiring more voltage.
