Im running a AMD 1100T with Artic Freezer 7 8 gigs of PC1600 mem and a HD6870 video card. The video card is over clocked and very stable but trying to over clock the processor is proving difficult. For one im using the Biostar GA880GB motherboard with the T series auto over clocking feature. I set it for v8. Heres the deal its put the starting at 3.7gig instead of the 3.3 and when the processor turbos up its almost 4.3 ghz. The processor doesnt get hotter than 40c according to onboard and cpu mon, but the system will just reboot all by itself when its working data for WCG. So whats the deal the processor isnt getting hot but its not stable. so can this be overclocked? Im win xp for now but next week win 7 with a fresh hard drive? As soon as I turn off overclocking its solid no crashes.

you need to turn off the turbo mode in the bios and manually overclock it with the cpu multiplier. 4.3Ghz at 1.47v(which is the turbo voltage if i remember correctly) is not possible. you need around 1.53-1.55v for 4.3Ghz with the current cooling you are using.

might be your XP install w/ 8 gigs of ram.

or like in my case, the Freezer 7 Pro isn't a big enough air cooler for the 1090T/1100T processors w/ a 62°C ceiling.

problem is the processor never goes above 40c so it cant be the cooler. yes it could the 8 gigs on XP although the computer has run without problems at all since I took the OC out of the equation.

Automatic overclocking almost never yields the best results. It is always better to manually overclock. Especially when a black edition processor is involved. Automatic overclocking does not take proper advantage of black edition processors.

so what would be a good ghz multplier and voltage setting to start with. Im already over 23k on winmark advantage just like to squeak out a little more.

For an 1100T? Well, my 1090T was able to do 3.8 ghz at 1.35v (which is stock voltage setting if you didn't know). Actually, it was more like 1.3v manual setting with 100% load line calibration, so CPU-Z reported voltages anywhere from 1.33-1.35v (this is on the Crosshair IV Formula). Each processor will of course overclock differently. 3.6 is what I'm sitting at now with 1.3v (which is really good in my opinion, overclocked and undervolted).

Head on over to the AMD subforum, there is a pretty good guide over there on how to overclock Phenom II processors, especially the black edition ones.

well there is no way to turn off the tubo in the bios section. and there isnt a place you can enter specific values for overclocking in the T series section of the bio setup You can choose noram auto or manual. manuall gives you a 200hz to 600 hz adjuster but nothing happens when toy try to use it. Id yiu use amd overdrive in xp and make an adjustment it will crash will not even run a test. toverclocking same thing crash. I wasnt even able to adjust the voltage multiplier.

mmm.. wait til the am3+ 900 series boards come out and snag one of those then sell the biostar board as soon as you can so you can at least get some of your money back. then you will at least be ready for bulldozer when the time comes to upgrade.

its most likely the bios not allowing overclock even though it supports the processor the x6's are probably at the max 125w limit for that board. so they probably locked the bios so you can't overclock them.

yes there is something called bios unlocking you hit f6 but i dont see any new screens pop up

yeah... I don't like biostar motherboards. They generally are very overclocking unfriendly, their bios is very counter-intuitive and doesn't offer enough options. Bios unlocking is for unlocking hidden cores on locked Phenom II x2, Athlon II x3, etc.

For AMD Overdrive, go to preference, then settings, then choose under "Performance Control Mode" the Advanced mode configuration. That should give you all your fine-tuning options. It took me a while to figure this out. Make sure everything is reset to default settings in the bios first.

After you're done, head on over to "Performance control" then "Clock/Voltage." In the clock section, you can adjust the multipliers, which is what I suggest you should use to overclock. Increase the multiplier by .5 at a time. There is another section where you can adjust the core voltage (CPU VID). Of course, once you have your settings, hit apply to apply the settings, and then run your stress tests to test for stability. There is also an option in the clock section to adjust turbo core; I would suggest disabling this feature.

Hopefully this helps, it took me a good few hours to find the "Clock/Voltage" section, it isn't available in normal mode.

ok ill amd over drive right now is overclocking in the biod auto mode as v6 setting. and is stable. Ill drive overdrive tomorrow but everytime I make an andjustment it freezes in overdrive.

used overdrive and set it up for advanced not novice. bumped the xplier and some voltage and now solid 4.1 on all cores no overheating and what it is really odd the temp went DOWN!!!
