Today we have an Abit BF6 440BX motherboard, together with a PIII EB 667, socket 370 to slot 1 adapter, 256, 128, and 128MB sticks of PC133, an Adaptec 29160 SCSI card, and an IDE DVD-ROM drive. Just how far can I push the FSB on this board?
I started off underclocking the CPU to 500/100, installing Win2K on the SCSI drive. Next, I started to push it up to about 145 MHz, before the old 4MB AGP card crapped out. So, I inserted a 1MB PCI video card (expandable to 2MB!
), and pushed it higher.
Upping the core and I/O voltages a little, and enabling the Spread Spectrum Modulation, whatever, that is, I could take a screenshot, and save it, at an FSB of 151 MHz:
Trying to start Windows with an FSB of 152 gave this:
The highest it could run Orthos stable for > 30 minutes was at 146 MHz.
I'm open to suggestions for going to 152 or higher.
