So i have my 5750 and its doing decent but i know there is so much potential.

I opened up my ATI Overdrive, but i dont see no shaders?:confused:

What to do?

The ATI shaders and core are locked together as opposed to nvidia cards which can be unlinked.

I had my 4890s OCd a little when running F@H, but have them at stock right now. At 50% fan they are still running 75-80C, which is about as hot as I feel comfortable with for long-term.

Well i have the clock at 700 MHZ at full load at 52 degrees so i think theres some room.

Im just not sure what the stepping and stuff is for ATI.

Im an ATI newb :(

I don't know either. I usually stick to 25 Mhz increments simply because I don't know any better or care that much. To me these cards are thermally limited more than anything. Does the 5750 still have a double-slot cooler? It should use much less power than my 4890s and even a gimped dual-slot cooler should be more than adequate.

Well i decided to crank it as far as CCC would let me, and i have it 870mhz

ATI doesnt use stepping.. i believe its a 1:2 ratio for gpu and shaders.. so for every 1 mhz you increase the gpu the shaders increase 2 mhz.. but its been a while since ive overclocked an ATI card so it could be different now with the 4k and 5k series cards..

use MSI afterburner to overclock the card.. the card will overclock much higher then what CCC allows.. and yes flogge the reference design 5750 uses a double slot cooler but there are a lot of cards that use aftermarket cooling so im not sure which one he has though.. but seeing as how low his temps are im guess its one with a non reference cooler..

Really? I always thought the shaders were a 1:1 ratio with the core.

But yeah nitro - you cant manually adjust the shaders, just the core and RAM. In some BOINC many of the ATi projects have been shown to not need a high speed RAM speed. For instance in Milkyway some people would OC the core and Underclock the RAM to save heat and power. Collatz has shown that it need a decent RAM speed for good performance. Of course most of my experience is with a GDDR3 4850 so Im not sure how the added memory bandwidth of the 5000 series might effect this. Did you leave your RAM clocks at stock?

Well i tried afterburner, but nothing will stay when i hit apply.
Even if i save a profile the OC settings dont stick.

I went ahead and kicked up my 4890s by 25 Mhz just to see how they do. I'm curious if memory OCing will help these cards since they already have high-clocked DDR5. If anyone decides to dump a 5800 series AMD card when Fermi gets released let me know. I might have to pick one up if I can find it used for a good price. With a 5870 added to my 4890s I might be able to knock tr0ach off his ppd pedestal.

Does anyone know if mixing generations in the same boxen will affect Collatz or MW@H?

i know with cuda based DC'ing memory speed has no real effect but have no clue on the AMD side of DC'ing would be nice to know when i replace this card with a 5870 at some point..

Does this mean that you got the OC to "apply" or that OCing when drunk is a bad thing? :D:D

haha OMG im an idiot

I dunno ill have to check when i get home from work :)
