Overclocking Allendale e2140 and problems.

I got my E2140 a few days ago and I'm toying around with it, but the problem is, no matter how I overclock it, as soon as I go into Bioshock it will run smooth, then the audio will crackle and game will slow to 1 fps and get choppy, then 2 seconds later its back to full speed. The more I overclock, the more frequently it does this. Is there a configuration I'm missing?

This problem persists across all games including CSsource, BF2 and Starcraft, though less pronounced in them.

Also I turned off EIST in the bios, and CPUz still says the processor is changing the multiplier, about as frequently as this is happening in game....are the two related?

My setup:
MSI P6n sli-fi
XFX 8600GT
E2140 Allendale
antec truepower trio 430W
Geil 800 5-5-5 2x1Gb
stock cooling

Would you kindly offer me some help?
 
umm, do you even check your temps? As far as I know from your post your temps shoot up to 85 degrees and your chip throttles

you don't even say how far you pushed your chip... post more detail and then you might get an answer :eek:
 
well, the idea was that its clocked to many different speeds. Even so much as 5mhz on the FSB (8x multi = 40mhz overclock cpu) makes it jitter. I don't add any voltage, idle it sits at 40 degrees, and it loads to around 60. When I do add voltage it just makes more heat.
