I have a lot of reading to do to get to understand the whole overclocking thing but i am looking for feedback from folks with similar setups. I'm not a gamer but looking to milk the most of what I have primarily for hd video playback and editing. Here's the primary components of my build...

Asus A8n32 SLI-Deluxe
AMD Manchester 3800+ X2
2GB OCZ Gold XTC PC4000
XFX 6800 XT xtreme

ANY information and help would be apprecaited...many thanks!!

Yes some reading would be in order and I'd start with the sticky about overclocking a64's. It's pretty comprehensive and should be fairly informative. Other information beyond that or problem you may run into we can help you with.

If you're looking for how that setup will fare. I'd say you'd be able to reach 2.5 -2.7 on air which will maximize your ram as well. I would have chosen a better video card but that's just me. The x850xt's are really cheap right now, ~$170, and probably would have gone with that.

I've been reading and reading..in between support calls here at work...I am now reading all the info at the Holy Grail of RAM site. It looks like I chose option 3. which is probably best for now but still seeking to milk it. I'm hoping to get some replies from folks with same or similar setups with timings that they tried and what resulted. I know they're out there.

On the video card. It was the last thing I needed to get my build up and I just can't afford a 7800gtx plus I might just wait for the 7900gpu. I don't game and I thnk that 6800 will do me fine for watching HD DVD content on my big screen..that's my primary concern at the moment but appreciate the feedback..
