Overclocking A64

I read something the other day about vdimm and A64. If I were to raise the vdimm up to say 3.2 or 3.3 on my A64, would it kill the A64?

My board is the chaintech nforce3 250 board.
My ram is kingston hyperX pc3500
A64 3000+

I've had my ram at 240 fsb on a DFI lanparty but had to push 3.0+ vdimm through it to get it stable set that high. So I know the ram is capable of that.

I would like to achive a 1:1 overclock, however, whatever works to get a faster mhz out of my 3000+ is fine too.
 
RAM at 3.2V? in your future i see... BLUE SMOKE! or grey smoke. or even white smoke. but there will be smoke. i need a smoke...
 
depends on the ram I guess. From what I understand bh5 needs/likes more vdimm. However, my question is, will I kill the A64 by pushing the vdimm?
 
Someone on Anandtech's forums listed the AMD specs for vdimm as 2.9V. I remember reading an overclocker's forum (can't remember which one :( ) that had a bunch of Athlon 64 deaths from running their memory at 3.2-3.3V. The processor part still worked, they just fried the memory controller.
 
You can and will kill your A64 if vdimm is too high. And phase-change cooling doesn't save your ass either. It's been tried and tested, and generally anything over 3.4vdimm will kill your A64. Also, if you volt-mod your 3.3 line, that also tends to kill it. And don't run the vdd much above stock. I think the max recommended voltage for that is 1.9? I might be wrong, though, could be 1.6.
 
so 3.4 is the max on vdimm? I don't plan on pushing it any higher than say around 2.9ish.
 
2.9 VDIMM should not present even the slightest of a problem.

It is true that your processor might not like the added voltage, but you don't need to worry about the memory. BH5 memory takes up to 3.6 volts before you even need additional cooling :p .

I would stay at 2.9-3.0 volts and you shouldn't have a problem.
