i'm going to be getting an Intel P4 630 and pairing it with a non-stock Zalman fan. i'd like to take it to 3.4Ghz or somewhere around there. what's the safest, easiest/most popular way to overclock a CPU? should it be done in the BIOS? or is there a program that does this sort of thing?
 
Its personal preference. I like the BIOS, cause whatever you fuck up in windows, BIOS is always there. Just raise the FSB.
 
With Prescotts, how far can you normally get on Stock voltages?
 
I ran 3.5ghz on my girlfriends p4 630 with OEM HS/F just fine not to hot. (tested with prime)
(she runs 3.0 regularly i was just testing it)

I run mine at 3.4 with my xps-90 and 90mm fan and it still gets to 66 degrees because I have it in my desk cubby (no front or back and still gets this hot!) I`ve ran it at 3.9 fine but the temp spikes VERY easily. I`d rather have the CPU last LONGER than burn it quick for a few hundred mhz heh.
