ive got a 90nm 3000+ sitting in an MSI Neo2 Platinum board, Kingston HyperX PC3200 (BH5 - i know this for a fact) that ive managed to get up to 220FSB stable with timings at 2-3-2-6 (1T) timings. anything over 220 at this point and it gets flaky. now, ive already got the ram going at 2.85V (as BH5 loves Vdimm) and the vcore at +10%.

now, what are some things i can do to try and push this further? i can add some vcore, but i think this is a ram thing holding it up, and not a CPU thing. lower the timings? if so, which ones? ive already turned HTT to 4x, instead of 5x.

use a "fsb" to memory ratio, I was looking for the answer to whether or not async would work optimally for athlon 64's and I believe what I heard was that it's fine.

Also, reeelaaax those timings, I would say you could get much better results with 2.5-3-3-10 or something along those lines.

edit: also out of curiousity, what kind of ram is it? different types like different voltages, the pqi that i am getting doesnt like more than 2.7.

3200+ running 250x10 here, make sure your drive is on controller 3 and 4 since the other ones are not locked, and set the divider to 5:4.

its kingston hyperX pc3200 w/ winbond bh-5 chips. i pulled off the spreader to check myself. this was the ram outpost.com had a killer deal on last week (dead now)

the HTT (1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x) is the multipier for the hypertransport bus, and is a combination of FSBxHTT multiplier. normally it runs at 5x200 but any attempt to up the memory speed at the 5x multiplier and it wont boot. so if youre running an FSB of 250, you need to back it down to 4x (so it still = 1000). numerous reports say that the HTT speed doesnt affect overall system performance much at all.

my SATA drives are definitely on 3+4 ports. since day one :)

btw, where can i change the divider settings?

What does the HTT buss connect?

Why should your SATA drives be on ports 3 and 4?

since you have BH-5 memory you should use 2-2-2-10 and use a memory ratio

Or just sell that ram and get some PC4000 ram

Ports 1 and 2 aren't affected by the PCI/AGP lock.

What cooling are you using?

I heard that Athlon64s benefit minimally from the RAM being over 200mhz, so I would lose the 1:1 ratio to keep the timings low.
