I have a sapphire 4850 and have had it running default clock speeds running FAH gpu client, FahMon says 2430 ppd average so far after a couple of days so I decided to see if overlocking the GPU can help. Since FAH is most likly GPU bound and not memory I only changed the GPU clock speed to 700 mhz which is as high as the Catalyst Control Center would allow. Can it use something else to push the 4850 past 700 or is it even possible? Any input would be appreciated, thanks!. My temps are from GPU-Z and Catalyst Control Center

Catalyst Control Center

GPU 57 @100 percent load runnign FAH GPU client
GPU 700 Mhz
Mem 993Mhz
Fan Speed 100%

GPU-Z

GPU 56.5
GPU Load 99%
GPU Temp (DISPIO) 56.5
GPU Temp (MEMIO) 64
GPU Temp (SHADERCORE) 55

While it is possible to push a 4850 beyond 700mhz, I would not suggest doing it while running F@H.
I have all 10 of my 4850 set at 685mhz.

There will be a new ATI core released in a day or so (Core_ 11 1.22v) and you should see a PPD increase over the current Core_11 1.18v.

As the ATI cores get better, the gpu will get utilized eve more, and the stress of the OC will degrade performance over the long haul.
You are also correct, that GPU memory speed has no effect on F@H performance or PPD.

I've got a 4850 folding, will this new core automatically get downloaded or is this a manually delete old one to force the download of a new one type deal?

Ooo good question. Now as a proud owner of a 4850 as well..... do tell.
