I wanna change my multiplier but in my bios it has it set to "auto" and then i have a list of multipliers, the only problem is i dont know what multiplier my pc is using so i dont know where to start with the overclocking... any suggestions to figure out what my multiplier is...

arent most of them 11x or 11.5x

I have a 2800+ at 2.14gh and an asus mobo

Divide CPU Speed by FSB = Multi

The only 2800+ thats @ 2.13/4 ghz is the 2800+MP so Your mulitplier would be 17.5

To OC, I would decrese the Multi and increase the FSB, if you can that is... (Ram factor). If not be happy. I dont know any motherboards that support changing mulitpliers in that range, I could be wrong though. The highest mulitplier I've seen recently is 15x.

You could always do the wire trick if you want say a 15 via wire trick and goto 166 FSB for ~2.5ghz (Assuming you have at least pc2700)

Or sell the proc and buy a 2200+M for like $70-$80 and overclock just as much if not more for cheaper ^_^. Or sell proc and buy a amd64 2800+ .

asus what? Knowing the model/revision will help us help you better.

I have a 2800+ in an A7N8X-X and it OC's terribly, wanting alot of voltage to run stable at 2200ish. I dont mind pouring in voltage, it's just getting the heat off the die that sucks. I havent tried sticking my 2400XP-M in it to see if its just the board... it runs great in my A7N8X deluxe at about 2.4ish at 100% load 24/7.

As Rad777 said, wire mod it and see what that nets you once you/we get you to make the correct choice in the BIOS. I had a wire modded 1700xp run 2380 on air for a few weeks at full load before I hit the HSF.
