Overclocked 9500 pro checkerboard problem

I overclocked my Radeon 9500 pro to 340/310 a few days ago and it was fine until now. I just started up a game and BAM! Checkerboard.
I quit the game immediately and shut down the computer for about an hour, so it could cool off. I then booted it back up and restored it to its origional clock, but the checkerboard was still there.

I know the card isn't fried because this has happened before. My old solution was to reformat and install Windows again, but that is getting pretty old, so I was wondering if there was another fix out there.

Help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Also, if i was to raplace the heatsink and fan on the card, which ones would you recommend?

take it out of the agp and put it back in, just reset it

Thanks, but the problem went away. Turned it off last night and went to school the next morning, turned it back on at about 6:00 PM and it was working fine.

So, what about the heatsink and fan?

I had a 9500 Pro that would do that exact same thing. One day it was fine and the next day checker boards and the next fine again. RMA that thing if you still can.

Did a new one fix it?

I don't think I can RMA it, I voided the warranty by replacing the BIOS.
Do you think it will work, I mean, it is worth a try....

yea a new one did fix it ( i bought metalx's card and rmad it)

took all of 7 days for ATI to send me a brand new card.

you could always reflash the bios back to stock and then send it in.

you could just buy a new card and keep that one for a extra system. guess it just depends on your graphics needs

Does that always work?

Worked for Sin. I had the Warp BIOS on it when I sold it to him(after disclosing the graphic issues of course). Give it a try.

Glad my card is still running strong. Sapphire ATI Radeon 9500np 128 as a FireGL X1 (softmod) :D
