Overclock= Slower

Just by name alone i would take the Antec.

My 480W Tt puts out 12.5v on the 12v rail, my neo480 is rock solid at 12.05v

I second the Fortron. Stay away from the SmartPower from antec. The TruePower's are really good though.

the only difference is that the smart power has 5% voltage regulation while the true has 3%. theyre both excellent supplies.

I've herd a good number of bad happenings with the SmartPower. They have always been pretty generic.... Maybe the SmartPower 2.0 is better?
 
Well the reviews look pretty good. Newegg also has a truepower for like the sameprice of the Smartpower (after MIR).
 
Run the CPU at stock, then give it a 5% overclock.

Does it run faster or slower? Continue doing this, watch your power rails, see if they are getting ugly as you go up and see if you get some kind of correspondance that way.
 
Voltages are pretty stable underclocked or overclocked.

5% OC= small performance loss.
and 5% UC = Small performance gain.
 
That looks pretty good, only thing is its a bit expensive. Any other good PSUs from ernermax or Fortron etc?
 
So let me get this straight - you have a ~$500 CPU, yet you're complaining about spending $75 on a decent PSU? Just get a decent PSU and eliminate that one obvious weak spot in your setup.. It may not be the source, but it would then rule out a shitty PSU holding you back and/or killing your expensive parts. Sorry if I sound like an a$$, but there's a point where cost cutting is going too far. At least noone's been linking you to a $200 PCP&C (yet) ;).

..A cheaper alternative ($64+$7 ship vs $77+7) to the TP2.0 480 linked above - XClio's 480BL..

OEM'd by Channel Well, seemingly the same base PSU as the TP 480..3% regulation, same rail ratings (30a[3.3v]/38a[5v]/18a[12v1]/18a[12v2]) as the Antec (newegg's XClio ratings/pics are wrong - i have one). Supposidly has a 3 year warranty (via forum threads here/don't recall seeing in "manual") . Only differences I can see are the black casing, and 2 SATA plugs vs. TP2.0s 4 (I think).

Alternatively, check the stickies in the PSU forum - certainly helped me when I was building my system.

Should fix most of my problems now :)
 
Ok I got my parts and installed everything. The antec keeps my voltages rock solid, 12v is 12.000 and sometimes moves to 11.971. however, when I overclock I still lose 3D performance :(, help!!
