I recently decided to overclock my PC to try and squeeze a little more performance out of it.
Here are my system specs:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz overclocked to 3.2GHz
RAM: Corsair 6gigs (5-5-5-18) - I haven't messed with the RAM at all as far as the overclock goes.
Motherboard: XFX 680i SLI
Video Cards: eVGA GTX570HD x 2 in SLI.
Cooling: Corsair H70
Case: Corsair 600T
Voltage: I haven't messed with any of the voltage either.
TEMPS: 47C/114F idle and 59C/140F underload
Prior to this setup, I had the same CPU, Ram, only 1 video card and an ASUS P5B Deluxe Mobo and had roughly a 3D Mark 06 score of around 13k. This was while it was overclocked to 2.8GHz (It wouldn't go any higher, the temps were getting too hot while under load, about 80C/176F). After upgrading the Mobo, Case and adding the second video card, my 3DMark06 score was still only 13848.
Now my question is, why am I not seeing better numbers? Am I that bottlenecked by the CPU?
