could a 120mm fan draw too much power from a mobo fan header and cause instabilities in an overclock? ive been having some issues with my overclock i installed a new heatsink last night and have been having issues with my overclock. however these issues were solved when i raised the core voltage to more than it was before. im thinking maybe the fan header is dropping the overall flow in the mobo i dunno. might also help to mention the sound card was going haywire and was sending loud screeching through the speakers and for a few reboots one of my harddrives wasnt detected, the screeching in the speakers didnt cause a lock up until ten minutes later, then for a while the sound card wasnt detected then it later was. i thought maybe i messed up the soundcard and the harddrive but two components at the same time? it seems more logical that its the mobo, especially since now they are working perfectly with more voltage to the mobo. any thoughts?

If your PSU is on the edge of its capability, adding anything to the system could cause you a problem.

Does the problem reduce if you unplug another fan or is it related to only the one fan.
Its possible the fan has a fault and is allowing a lot of current to flow, if so, this could be dangerous as it might melt/set on fire.

However, given the other problems which I assume are independent of whether the fan is fitted, I suspect the PSU cant handle your system.

but the thing is the problem was gone when i upped the voltage on the nb sb n cpu voltage, however that might have worked because like u said it cant handle it and maybe it was undervolting. i dont know i should test unplugging them. its a 520W OCZ Powerstream. Ive got 2 dvd rws 4 sata 500gb wd drives a 120mm fan attached um a 70 mm fan a 8800gt and thats it maybe the mobo header has an issue with a 120mm fan suckin too much juice through the mobo
