3rd times the charm. This Opteron 148 I purchased from newegg on Jan 21st is the first CPU Ive purchased that was a "good overclocker"

This CACJE is running 2900 with the TT typhoon keeping it at 44c max, in an Epox 9npa+. My ram is crappy budget GEIL and its 2 years old. Its running 2.5 5 5 8 @ 193mHz.

Ive read that having ram running more then 200mHz on one of these 64 bit chips doesnt yeild much more real performance? Its this true? I remember the NF2 boards ran the best with ram and CPU both at 200mHz. Ive got this set up running 290 on the cpu, and the ram is set to 100, thus 190. Am I going to get more by having ram at 290, or 2 gigs at 200?

I was hoping to stick with this gig, and add a second gig, but i cant afford 2 gigs of high speed ram, maybe 1. What are the opinion of what is better? 1 gig of high speed vs 2 gig of slow stuff.

Basically, which direction would you go to yeild more, better ram? More ram? Higher RPM fan to shoot for 3.0 , (only 1200 rpm now.)

BTW, this is gaming stable at 3000 with same voltage, but it fails prime95. So better cooling might yeild much more with the juice applied.

OH BTW, I play FPS games, and crunch video. But I have a secondary for the latter. Thats about it.
