hi, im looking into overclocking my memory but was wondering what a safe voltage to go upto was. they need to last around 5years i reckon and they're currently at 800mhz, 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v. i want to get to 1000mhz but not to many volts. would lowering the timings to 5-5-5-15 hurt performance a lot?
thanks

i have no idea. atm there at 800mhz (stock). its a pair of 1gb corsair xms2's pc6400C4

thats what i was told. tbh i havent got a clue myself. but what would be a safe voltage??

Unless you have an early version of the 6400C4 or 6400C4PRO, you have a really good chance that those sticks are PROMO, Elphida, or some other varient.

Along with that, you will have a historically less of an overclock vs. Micron based sticks.
Check out this link.. http://ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2/ and double check what you have.

I think the safe voltage for those is around 2.2. Redbeard should be here shortly and will either confirm or deny this :)

phew. myn are v2.1 usin micron's i believe. i think ill try 1000mhz @ 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2v as ive heard at those timings u can get 940mhz on 2.1v
will the lower timings make a difference?

I hate to do this to you but if your sticks are Corsair 6400C4, Ver 2.1...

PC6400C4 Rev 2.1
4.0-4-4-12 @ 2.1V
ProMOS
