Overclock a celeron? Show me how!

I have a FIC FR33 board and i'm running a 800 cele @100 mhz. It (board) will support 133 mhz. Can I O'Clock it to 133 using 133 ram? How?

I remember having a box at office running a 600mhz celery @ 900mhz with just a fsb jumper, from 66 to 100, worked great for like 2 years until the psu went bad and took mobo with it

On that motherboard you will have to go to the Frequency/Voltage Control in CMOS setup and change the CPU Host Clock (CPU/PCI) to 133MHz/33MHz. You don't necessarily need PC133 memory if you change the DRAM clock in Advanced Chipset Features from Host CLK to HCLK-33M to run a 133MHz FSB with 100MHz memory.

The problem with changing the CPU Host Clock to 133MHz is that your CPU may not run reliably at 1.066GHz at default voltage. The motherboard doesn't seem to have any options for voltage adjustment. There are socket adapters that have voltage and FSB adjustment like this: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=S370TUA&cat=CPU (out of stock there).

I don't think you'll get much out of a 266MHz boost on a Celeron. eBay has S370 P3s pretty cheap. This P3 933MHz closes in 12 hours: http://cgi.ebay.com/brand-new-Penti...877754450QQcategoryZ14292QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That one should go for around $20 shipped if you snipe it.

Or even better, if you can verify that your motherboard supports Tualatin processors with an adapter, a 1GHz Tualatin Celeron + adapter @ 133MHz FSB = 1.33GHz for cheap. I like Tualatin Celerons because they're as fast clock for clock as Coppermine P3s at the same FSB speed and are pretty cheap.

-Make sure you know what motherboard is in your rig before you start. Use PC wizzard , SiSoftware etc to find out. Also find out what PLL IC your motherboard has. Here is a great guide for finding out What PLL IC your board has. ( thanks to our friends at guru3d)


Some of the following programs work for some motherboards, so try a few and see how it goes.



There are a few tricks/programs out there to do it.



1)

Take the memory out of your mobo on your Rig. Start it up with NO memory onboard, it'll beep repeatidly, let it go ahead and do so. After it finishes beeping, turn it off, and install in the memory and turn it back on. The computer will load into the bios stating that it failed bootup due to system frequencies, and might give you the options of changing them!!!! I did it to an old P3.. So far I've gotten a 300 mhz increase.

I was trying the 133fsb, and it booted, but then shut down. I went in to the bios ( after clearing it) and tried setting it a few times- now its running @112fsb with a 896 mhz! it currently is running @ 78*F with a coolermaster heatsink designed for the P3/AthlonXP. I wanted to see what it would really do with the celeron. I might try others now!

If the motherboard had voltage adjustments, (as PXC said) how would I adjust that?

That is a nice OC, don't play with the voltages.. if you don't need too.
