would i have my system running faster by oc a 2500 as far as it goes or would it go faster by oc a 2600 as far as it goes? ty

The 2500, 2600, 2800+ bartons all have the same overclockability. It just depends on each CPU individually. You might get a good CPU or a bad one. It's LUCK.

If were buying a Athlon XP now ..it would be a MOBILE Barton

can u put mobile chips in a normal desktop board? if so, do they cost more? and are they locked like the new 2500?

Yes you can use Mobile processors in a desktop board since they are both socket A, They have to be unlocked for things like throttling the processor down for battery life and etc.

At Newegg the 2500+ M is exactly 100$
and the standard 2500+ Barton is 80$

But are they unlocked upwards as well?

I've heard that mobo support can be a bit iffy on the mobiles... You might want to explore a bit further before spending the money unless you don't mind rolling the dice on possibly needing to buy a different mobo as well.

I've got one on its way to me from newegg. I'm not too worried about mobo support, as I've got 6 mobos I can try it with and I'd expect that it should be able to work with at least one of them...
