Hi i oc my system to 1.6g
166FSBx9.5

OK it boots up if i go 166x10 but it unstable even when i increase voltage?
And when i increase voltage more i even cant go pas 10x166
 
at least we know it's a 1700+ :D

btw, aminotaur, I'm just giving you a hard time. We'll be more than happy to help, we just need more info is all...

ram, maybe mobo too, what voltages you are at, what timings ram is at, etc etc
what kind of cooling, perhaps what your temps are now...
 
i got a xp1700+ which runs upto 2,800mhz prime stable..

but mine is waterchilled.... and is dlt3c xpmw 0310 stepping... does about 2.4ghz@ 1.8v air.. so it's not the greatest.. but not bad.

hey you original poster, you also might have bad stepping of the chip.. that's gonna hurt your oc significantly...too. I take it's the tbred right? or is it Palomino? you need to tell us this... so we get an idea what range of clocks to expect@ X cooling & voltages...

so, go find what type of chip yours is.. as well as the stepping. then we'll talk.
 
If your motherboard can do a 400 FSB then just drop an XP2400Mobile in there and get some better cooling. Pawn that 1700+ off on you mom if you can afford the new chip.

wOOT!!..That kicks ass bro!!!! I think I might swap in my old 1700 in my Mach II this evening and see what it can do. I could get 2.46 on water.

and for wanting some...barton can stomp a 1700 ;)
 
yea.. you might get good chance get those clocks... with your machII. mine was done on an Abit NF7/s. Your DFI board will limit your top clocks a little bit.. though. but with that hefty cooling of yours, should help it a lot.

oh my tbred setup is fast... on a DFI of course. ;) what times you getting with that superPi with your barton? :D
 
How would the DFI limit me? This is about the best oc'ing board out right now.

of course the DFI boards are good oc'ing board, in FSBs.

can't clock shi.t in terms of total clocks.. it's known to be that way. It's normal. It wouldn't be normal if it total clocks like crazy.... he... he....
 
OK im the one that needs help! Mobo is a k7n2 max fsb the mobo supports is 333fsb

And i have 256 of 2700
[just added 256 of 2100] this is after i tried to OC thoe, havent tried since i added the new chip

Radeon9700 pro

amd1700+ Palimno

well, that explains it quite a bit... being Palomino.. their usual max clock is around 1.8~1.9ghz air cooled.

Some Via Apollo boards do not like high Vmem voltages to get high FSBs with tight timings. Some do like.
 
Why? well generals is very laggy and loads so slow with my 256 of 2700 i didnt expect much from the 2100 but it helped alot
 
isn't there some RAM timings rule that says the last number should be at least the sum of the first three or something close to that?

even if there isn't, I've never heard of someone running 2-2-2-3...

edit: from THE MEMORY FAQ IN THE MEMORY FORUM

This document from Mushkin outlines how tRAS should be a sum of tRCD, CAS, and 2. For example, if you are using a tRCD of 2 and a CAS of 2 on your RAM, then you should set tRAS to 6. At values lower than that theory would dictate lesser performance as well as catastrophic consequences for data integrity including hard drive addressing schemes --- truncation, data corruption, etc --- as a cycle or process would be ended before it's done.
 
i too... feel "wow". I didn't expect Aminotaur to blow up like that.. "stfu" isn't a good answer.. that was very rude.. you should apologize to Ch1m3r4...

agreed.. his Tras timing cannot be "3".. not only i doubt that value is avaliable in the Via kt333 boards but also would be very unstable setting. Maybe you got it confused with some other timings.
 
it would seem difficult to confuse it with some other time when he seemed so sure that, at least in some order, whatever order that may be, that the ram timings were 2-2-2-3 :rolleyes:
 
theory states that you should be running at 2.5+3+2=7.5 (round up to 8 I assume).
and who knows, you might see a bit of a performance increase if you were to do so.

the point is that 6 is at least a typical number, while 3 is just :confused:
