Over clocking a dell cpu????

hey, new here but i was wondering if theres a way to overclock hardware on dell computers, since there isnt an option in the bios, ect

No option in BIOS = no overclock. Clockgen might be able to do a little, but not much, and with a high risk of blowing your PC.
 
its a dell dim. 2400, 1 gig ram, and a intel 2.6 p4 (no HT) and i have a 5500 pci card in it.
its my old computer, just wondering if i can get anything more out of it.

I did a quick google search and there were a few people that said that after much searching they found no way to overclock the Dimension 2400. Sorry.
 
i tried, doesnt work

HP laptops can OC though... just everytime you restart you have to OC again

btw, i used clockgen
 
I'm not condoning or guiding you on this, but you may not want to give up yet.

Often times, the clockgen for a given chipset/motherboard of another manufacturer will work. Again, you're risking damaging stuff but you could just determine your chipset and try a couple until you see if it works or not.

I know this works, because when my laptop is plugged in I use the Clockgen for a desktop xpress 200 board to OC. My options are really limited-like I can use stock (1.6 Ghz) or overclocked (~2.25 Ghz). When I click on get values and set values the sliders move, but the OC just isn't adjusted other than those two settings. The clockgen also displays some other anomalies (ridiculously wrong PCI clocks and mem speeds), but the OC is verified by every app I could find and benchmarks prove it.

So, through some ingenuity, a small investment, and risk/luck my $450 best buy special laptop with a pos Celery and 256 mb of ram became a $530 champ with a 2.25 GHz, 138 FSB and 1.25 Gigs of ram.
 
holy crap a selection worked on clockgen, ill overclock a little bit (2.7) and see if it works :D hehehe
 
ok i try to overclock it when i move the slider over and press apply, it thinks for a couple seconds then it dosent change the speeds.

Have you tried verifying the speed with another source such as CPU-z?

The reason I ask is when I'm abusing my laptop, clockgen says that my cpu is @ 1400 and some, my AGP is running 300 mhz, and some other numbers that appear to come from nowhere. Based on my experience clockgen may be working but not displaying properly. Remember to be careful.
