Im going to attempt an overclock on my 2500 sempron but its at the stock clock speed now and the CPU temp is 50C idle and 53C after being loaded for 3 minutes by a shitty free benchmark software.. safe to OC?

anyone go any cheap ways to lower the temps into safe range then?? by the way, its got an Ultra X connect 400 watt power supply with 2 fans and a green glow exhaust fan in the back. board is an MSI KT4V and it runs 512MB of pc2700 ram. both side panels are off.

watercooling? but i guess if you went the budget route with a sempron, you probably aren't looking for that. Better heatsinks, higher cfm fans would be the only ways to do it.

some cheap ass hetsink that came with the CPU. case temp is 35c and room temp is 25.5c. case sidepanels are off. what u think?

ouch! ok computer is having errors all of a sudden, screen flickers once in a while. wtf!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????

Get a better heatsink. I've got some cheap FoxConn and my full load temp is 50c. Average idle is 45c.

yeah. Im beginning to suspect my motherboard is going bad. it ate a processor a few months ago and today I fixed my graphics prob by cleaning the fan on my AGP card but after that it wouldnt boot up. I reset the bios and re seated the processor and that got it running. there was no reason for the other processor to die. it ran cooler then this one and all the settings were good. but recently some USB ports cause freezing when used. this is making me wonder about the motherboard. what do other people think? am I on target with that guess?
