Outlook 2013 -> Can't export large IMAP mailboxes to PST

Folks,

I am in the midst of migrating a bunch of Google Apps mailboxes to PST using Outlook, however I am encountering problems exporting large (20+ gigs) mailboxes with lots of folders. Specifically, once the export starts, it will fail once the PST reaches about 25 gigs with the message "The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook."

This does not occur on smaller mailboxes with lots of folders... only on the large ones.

Any ideas?

Well - tier 1 support could not figure it out after spending hours on the problem. Time to deal with tier 2!
 
are you using Exchange? Exchange 2007/2003 are limited to 20GB PST and recommends the main folders have less than 20,000 items each.

No - the mailboxes are being downloaded via IMAP from Google Apps, then exported via PST and imported to clients' machines as a standalone archive; none of it is being imported into Exchange since our new mailbox limit is 2GB :|
