my monitor (a stock dell, dont really know the name for it) isnt very good. i can only run my monitor at a top of 1280x1024, and i only get 65hz out of it :(. i try to change it to 75hz and it says "out of frequence". i dont quite know what this means, but im pretty sure its telling me to get a new monitor bc this out is a pos.


i was wondering which crt monitors would be good at like 17" and 1280x1024 resolution w/ like 100hz, or even a higher resolution for 85-100hz.

i would also like to know wtf "out of frequence" means and if it means my monitor sucks.
 
Out of frequency just mean that the refresh rate is too high for that resolution. Since your monitor has a max resolution of 1280x1024 65hz don't try to run it at 75hz because you will get that message. If the refresh rate (hz) is bothering you drop down to 1024x768 75hz. Best to check the back of the monitor for a model number and look it up on google for the specs.

If your looking for a new monitor you can get a really nice 19" CRT flat screen Viewsonic G90fb for $198 on newegg.com. Supports 1280x1024 90hz, 1600x1200 77hz, 1920x1440 64hz.
 
ok... do u know of ne thing cheaper than 200 possible 150 of below.. ill spend 200 but 150 or below would fit me better :D
 
There's not many quality 19" monitors below $200 that I've seen. You might go with a 17" but I would suggest 19" since there's a huge difference in size and higher refresh rates.

For a 17" CRT monitor I'd get a NEC/Mitsubishi FE771SB Superbright Diamondtron for $149. Just jump over to newegg and check them out. Just be sure to get a Flat screen and a resolution of 1280x1024@60hz or higher.
