I've just received my 2707. Thanks to all those who helped me make up my mind with great posts in this forum.
I love the monitor. beautiful screen and workmanship. No bad pixels. Vivid colors. Calibrating with Spyder2 did little, only darkening the screen a touch.
Though the large dot pitch helps, from my most comfortable position 44" from the screen, a lot of text is still too small to read comfortably at 1920 x 1200. Not things that I can make bigger by adjusting font size, but icons and the clock on the menu bars, pull-down menus, JPG text on web sites, titles of files on the desktop, etc.
I find to my surprise that the 1600 x 1000 resolution is clear and very comfortable to read. Photos and graphics look good. Even at that resolution I have plenty of real estate for my needs (Text, spreadsheets, photos, etc. I don't game).
I'm not asking anyone to rain on my parade since I'm happy with the current arrangement. I am, however, curious. I understood all along that LCD monitors should work at their native resolution. Now I'm wondering why people say that. Or why Dell does.
At seventy my eyes aren't great, but I still check out at 20/20 corrected at the optometrist's. Is what i'm seeing not as clear and good as I think it is? What's wrong with 1600 x 1000?
Don't worry, you won't hurt my feelings if you tell me I'm too blind to see the imperfections. That might be one of the few benefits of age.
Better yet, I'd like to know how 1600 x 1000 looks to others on their 2707s. I'm using DVI and a Radeon 9200 MAC 128MB AGP video card i bought on Ebay, running on an old G4 Mac AGP.
