I have a drive I pulled out of a MAC that is formatted for OSX. Can I format the drive to NTFS to be used in a windows system? Will windows recognise the drive and be able to format it?

A drive is a drive is a drive is a drive. If you can plug it in, you can repartition and format it to whatever file system you want.

If it's an older Mac, chances are the drive is SCSI so you'll need a SCSI setup to connect it. Newer Macs all use plain old IDE.

Count the pins. 50 or 68= SCSI. 40 = IDE

It's coming out of a newer MAC. A Power Mac G5 to be more specific. It's an SATA drive too BTW.
