Does anyone suggest a few (or one) well known / free system performance metric docks that lay over my desktop so I can easily see my system w/o hitting the bash shell? I would like to see things like 'CPU / RAM / Temp / LAN-WAN / HDD / etc etc etc'

Thanks for any help / suggestions.

And yes, before someone post the 'Let me Google that for you' link, I know how to Internet. I simply am asking here for trusted suggestions of what the [H] community recommends. Remember this is a community where we uses help each other and recommend things based on specific needs...

Menumeters:

It lives up in the menu bar rather than on your desktop, but I prefer it since it's even less obtrusive but always in view. Works best with a large display that has a wide menu bar. If you have an 11" Air or something, there's always iStat.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" notebook. I'll give that a shot but prefer something on my desktop.

iStat menu is pretty robust, again, it's npt on the desktop, but it works well enough.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for

Search through this thread if you're interested. It was recommended to me a couple years back

I have been using menumeters since G4 days. I really do like it because it uses space that isn't doing anything anyways. What I really like is the LAN bitrate up/down.
