I have a Vista Home Premium 64bit laptop that I'd like to add a couple VMs running 32bit XP Pro. My question is whether purchasing one copy of XP Pro is sufficent or if I need to purchase a copy for each VM I plan to run that OS?
 
You would have to purchase a copy per a virtual machine just like per computer. There always trial period.
 
So if you're going to install a second OS in a VM, it would be best to install a retail version as opposed to an OEM in case there is a problem or you have to reinstall sometime down the road?
