i am getting my first SSD and am wondering weather i should get a 120 gig or the 180 gig for my OS drive?
either way it is a intel 520 cherryville.

It depends on the amount of software you are going to install. People say 60 GB is enough for Windows, but are you going to use plain windows install forever? You are wasting the advantages of the SSD if you install applications to another drive. My laptop, which I use for work and private stuff still uses my first SSD, an Intel Postville 160 GB. I can only say that it is almost full at all times. I could not work with 120 GB efficiently. I will never buy a primary SSD for Windows with less than 256 GB again.

120 - 180 should be plenty but it really depends on what you use the SSD for. For me, I have a 180GB in my game PC and that is plenty for all the games I currently play. I probably have 11 - 13 games installed currently. For my primary PC, 120GB would be fine since it's only used for web browsing, office applications and watching videos. Pictures, musics, movies are all stored on a SATA drive.

I have a 128gb and it feels way too small. If you have the $$ I would go with a 256gb.

I ended up getting the Intel 520 in the 180 gig size, i am VERY impressed with how fast this thing is!
thanks for all your help.:D

I recommend to others since the OP got his ssd to spend ~$150 to $160 on sale and get a 256GB Crucial M4 or Samsung 840. These go on sale every few weeks.
