Origin: Pre-Order Question

I pre-ordered Crysis 3 (Hunter Edition) which was supposed to come with the first Crysis as a pre-order bonus, but it's not showing up under My Games or anywhere in my account.

Is there somewhere else I should be looking/something should be doing to find it? I see absolutely nowhere else to look. Or is this a problem I need to contact EA about?

No idea if this a common problem, since I don't pre-order anything from them, but their support is a PITA, so wanted to ask here first if I was missing something or they just didn't apply the game to my account for what ever reason.

Log out then back into Origin after purchase?

Already tried several times. The pre-order was placed about three days ago and I've just been waiting to see if it needed to "catch up" or something... no luck.

Not sure what the deal is.

Contact Origin support. They are pretty good about things.

Actually, that's debatable. It's almost never an American you're speaking with, as just happened now. Friendly enough, but they do not always know what's what or communicate clearly.

I just spoke with some guy from over seas, and apparently EA's business model is a shit as ever. The first Crysis isn't available to download until the actual release of Crysis 3. He seemed clear enough about it, but that just doesn't make sense to do.

How stupid is that... to not offer the older game to play in the mean while... but that's on EA's end. Never ran into that before.

It doesn't even show up under "game icons" until the release of Crysis 3, according to the guy I just chatted with.

So, I guess that settles that, unless the guy had no idea what he was talking about.

Anyone else experience this with EA?
Pre-ordering something and the older "bonus" game it was supposed to come with wasn't being released until the actual release of the new game?

Oh, and why was the form letter email I received after the chat ended addressed to me as "Dear Refused", lol... "refused"?

that would be my guess.

origin has some terrible support, but you have to keep trying until you get a person who can actually help you. when you get that person, they usually fix the issue quickly.

ive had some experiences where i just couldn't believe these people have a job.

i asked a guy a question, he was talking for a while and eventually just stopped responding.

when battlefield 3 first came out, it was so bad i couldn't even play.
there was one online tech, a woman but i forgot her name, that was actually complained about on the battlelog forums because of how rude she was.

i was also promised coupons to be emailed to me for 25% off any purchase, by 3 separate reps and never got any.

the reason you dont get the game before the release of crysis 3 is Origin does not bill you for your game until the release of the game.

so it prevents you from getting crysis for free and then cancel the pre order.

thanks for scaring me into never trying origin.... And I was kind of looking forward to Crysis 3
I already gave up on Windows Live (is it still around?)

see ive had the opposite experience with origin. its always been a great service for me.

they give out free games.

fast live support chat.

ive never had a reason to complain about free stuff.

they gave me Mass effect 2 free, Dead space 2 free.

Firstly, a 20min wait to be connected to someone via live chat is not "fast", so I don't know how you're getting through so quickly.

Secondly, you're wrong regarding the billing issue.
I've already been charged for the game via PayPal, so they do not wait to charge you until the release of a game.

So, I should have the game in my account, since they already took my money for the order.

I'm not "complaining" about free stuff, it just makes no sense to not release an older game that supposed to be a pre-order bonus until the new iteration of the series is released. I've never been faced with that situation.

I've already been through the first Crysis, I didn't pre-order a special package to get it, as it just comes with the basic pre-order. It's the principal of the matter, and the fact that I've no idea if this is a mistake or just how stupidly they're doing things.

Has anyone else experienced this? It is a screw up? Or are they actually not releasing pre-order bonuses such as games until the release of the new title?

Starting to hate origin more and more.
I own BF3+premium, and everytime I open origin, launch a game, close a match, load a map.....origin pops up a fucking screen telling me to "GET IN THE ACTION and BUY PREMIUM BF3!!!!!"

cant turn it off...

It is there on the product page -

And it isn't really an Origin issue per say. Vendors will receive "shipment" from EA along with Crysis 3, they cannot generate and give out copies themselves. You will see the same terms no matter where you preorder from.

Also unless you really want the vendor specific preorder bonus I would not use Origin as my first choice, or Steam for that matter, for games that activate on either service. Check GMG, than Amazon, than Gamefly for better deals first (or maybe even Impulse if you collect those points).

Ah, you're right, thanks for that. I can hardly notice that type of shit with EA, given their TOS and paragraphs of rules and regulations make my head hurt and I get distracted from shit.

As for using another vendor, I certainly would, except for the fact that there are certain games that are only on Origin, which I'm not a fan of, to say the least. Crysis 3 is an Origin exclusive, so I had no choice but to order through them.

Anything else, I only use Steam.

None of EAs major titles are Origin only. They only have exclusive bonuses or editions sometimes.

Basically with the introduction of Origin it functions as EA's equivalent of Steam for Valve. EA games going forward require you activate it through the service regardless of where you purchase.

For example you can buy Crysis 3 -
http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/ca/en/pc/games/action/crysis-3-hunter-edition-na/#description
http://www.amazon.com/Crysis-3-Hunt...=UTF8&qid=1358891837&sr=1-1&keywords=crysis+3
http://www.gamefly.com/Download-Crysis-3-Hunter-Edition/5003883/

Buy from any of those places or even a retail copy and you can (and will need to) activate it through Origin. This is similar to what Valve required with its titles after the launch of Steam and how all Steamworks games function.

So basically for those types of games look for the best deal unless you care about those vendor specific bonuses. You save money and get the same product. This applies to both games that activate on Origin and Steam.
