Organizing Thunderbird address books

Sooooo I imported everything from Outlook Express, and much to my dismay, all of my contacts were piled into one group.

How do you organize them? Just create a different "address book" for each group? Is there an extension that makes organization easier?

Also, which Thunderbird extensions do you use?

I haven't found an extension to make it easier... I just manually made different addressbooks and split my contacts up, remembering to keep a copy in the individual addressbook as well as the "collected addresses" (or personal address book - it's for the spam filter).

As for extensions, I use the addressbook sidewindow, which places a sidewindow underneath my accounts for quick access, minimize to tray, and webmail extension with the HOtmail and Yahoo extensions for getting my webmail.
