Hi lads,

I am thinking of getting the Acer 2423wdr from newegg, since it is a really nice price with free shipping. however I am concerned about their 8+ dead pixel return policy. What is your experience? Does it really matter with this monitor, or will my bad luck curse me with 7, most annoying dead pixels?

Two LCDs from the Egg here. One was flawless, the other had one pixel stuck on blue that has since worked itself out after a few months of use.

I got a VX2025wm from them, and it came flawless. Of course, it all depends on the manufacturer. I have to agree, though; NewEgg's pixel policy is pretty crappy.

Got a Sceptre X20G Naga III from Newegg and it's perfect. The only I didn't like was that they shipped it bare (just the original mfg box). It's a good thing I was home when UPS delivered it.

I've gotten a few LCD's from the egg (including a 19" acer). Out of the maybe 5 or 6, 2 had issues with stuck pixels. One wasn't bad, it was a stuck white pixel in an extreme corner- barely noticable. The other was pretty bad, 2 stuck pixels nearly dead center, as I recall it was a 19" Viewsonic. There was nothing to be done. Since neither were mine, I am not sure if they ever worked them selves out or not.

It's a risk ordering monitors from Newegg, but I would take it in most situations (depending upon price, availability, etc).

I've gotten one lcd from Newegg and seven from other vendors and luckily haven't gotten any with dead/stuck pixels. My lcd at work (Dell 17") has four stuck pixels that I didn't even notice until I ran pixel buddy...2 near the bottom 1 in the right corner and 1 just to the right of center but I don't notice it unless I'm looking for it. None of them are stuck on bright colors and it just looks like dust specks or something..

edit- I ordered 5 Acer Ferrari F-20's...four for a client and one for myself and none had dead pixels. Either Acer has good quality control, dead pixels really aren't that common or I just got lucky..I don't know.

I've gotten two seperate LCD's from the egg, a viewera 19" and a viewsonic 19"..Both having no dead pixels whatsoever.

yeah it seems that this acer monitor that I am looking at is not sold in a retail store. (checked BB, CC and CompUSA online)

Hmpf. My current Dell 2001FP has 2 stuck pixels. One that I saw immediately in the top left corner (stuck black, coule actually be two adjacent dead pixels) and a stuck white that I never noticed until about a month ago (had screen since early 2005)
